My best friend – let’s call her “H” – and I have known each other since kindergarten but we didn’t become really close until high school when were pretty much inseparable. She’s now dating one of my husbands best friends so we spend quite a bit of time together as couple’s, go out, go on trips etc., but there’s an issue that has become a real problem lately that has actually been around for quite some time.
“H” eats like my 6 year old nephew. In fact I think he might actually like wider assortment of foods than she does. Her diet consists of pizza with nothing but cheese on it, fries, spaghetti with some plain red sauce, wonder bread and peanut butter. I could go on but I think you get where I’m going. I can’t remember that last time I saw her eat a salad or anything green. At my wedding she ate plain pasta. When she comes over for dinner I have to make her a separate meal or she doesn’t eat and choosing a place for all of us to go out and eat is nearly impossible. The idea of trying something new is out of the question. And something different? No way. Sushi? Forget it! Chinese? Nope! Greek? Ha! We are going out with “H” less and less which makes me sad.
Last week she called me snob for wanting to go somewhere that didn’t offer the foods she likes! The health factor is also an issue. I’m really concerned, but she says she doesn’t care. Unless she changes her diet it’s only going to get worse. What do I do? What can I do? -Picky eater’s pal in Waterloo
