Homer Watson House & Gallery is pleased to host the Kitchener Waterloo Society of Artists’ (KWSA) Annual Juried show entitled Textures. This year artists explore the influence of texture on subject matter, literally, figuratively and spiritually. The theme is examined through a variety of artistic backgrounds, diverse media and rich cultural ideas.
The work of Mira Wasilewska, 2017 winner of the Curator’s Choice award, will be featured as this year’s KWSA solo artist in her exhibit Reflections. Mira is a realist painter that focuses on creating the illusion of three dimensional objects on a two dimensional surface, leaving her finished work room to breathe and adapt to the viewer’s interpretation. Wasilewska transforms objective images into art by processing them at an emotional level. “It is both a pursuit and an outlet, a discipline and an emotional journey. Inspiration can hit me at any given moment compelling me to capture that emotional image that originally spoke to me,” Wasilewska explains.
Join us for the free opening reception on Sunday, March 25 from 2-4 pm for the opportunity to meet the artists as they offer their opening remarks.
Exhibition runs from March 18th until April 22.
Artist Talk: Sunday, April 8th 1 pm to 4 pm.
