TWO Epic Fire Shows Light Up the 31st Sun Life Financial Waterloo Busker Carnival!
Monday, August 19, 2019 – Fire shows, and contortionists, and escape artists – OH MY! Once again, the Waterloo Region is in for an amazing 4 days with the 31stSun Life Financial Waterloo Busker Carnival – it runs from THIS Thursday, August 22nd at 6:30 until 6pm on Sunday, August 25. This year there are 12 unique world class acts, not just one but TWO Epic Fire Shows, interactive Hula Hoop workshops, and a midway filled with fun and food!
Executive Committee Chair Randy Warren says the success of every Buskers Carnival depends on volunteers, and they are once again pleased that all volunteer positions have been filled.
NEW this year are two Epic Fire Shows & Hula Hoop workshops, both put on by Hoop You (generously sponsored by HIP Developments). On Friday (Aug. 23) and Saturday (Aug. 24) nights, these four amazing women will take you through an incredible journey of fire and dance using fire hula hoops and other unique fire props. The workshops are for all ages and skill levels. You’ll learn tips, tricks and techniques on becoming a hoop dancer, while keeping the beat to family friendly music. These workshops take place Saturday (Aug. 24) and Sunday (Aug. 25) at noon!
As far as entertainment goes, this year there 12 acts to amaze us…6 fan favourites including ‘Bendy Em from Australia, a contortionist who squeezes her body into a 16 foot box balanced on a 7 foot tower, and Nova Scotia’s ‘Incendia Motis’ a fire juggling, fire breathing comedy team. The 6 new acts include: ‘Hoop You’ a Canadian all girl fire show, and ‘Magic Breakers’ a team of 4 from Belgium and the US who blend incredible breakdancing moves with a modern circus twist.
Entertainment is free, but please be generous when entertainers pass a hat around. Rain or shine, all of the entertainment takes place outside.
On Friday (Aug. 23) and Saturday (Aug. 24) nights, beginning at 11pm – there will be an Epic Fire show (August 25). The next day, Sunday, everything begins at noon and wraps up with a Family Vaudeville Show from 5-6pm.
