The annual COOS Orchid Show and Sale will be held at the Cambridge Memorial Arena, 640 Ellis Road, Cambridge, N3C 4K2 on September 22 and 23 2018. On Saturday, the show is open from 11 am to 5 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. COOS, which covers primarily Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, is a local non-profit organization of orchid enthusiasts, from novice to expert!
Orchids are one of the largest families of flowering plants in the world, with up to 26,000 accepted species across 880 genera: more than double the number of bird species, and more than four times the number of mammal species globally. In addition, there are millions of hybrids! Orchids can be found on all continents except Antarctica: from the frozen tundra of Alaska to the rainforests of Brazil, Indonesia, and the Congo. Many will be on display and even more for sale at the COOS show this fall.
COOS meets monthly throughout the year in Kitchener. These meetings include invited speakers, who give talks on all aspects of orchids, member orchid sales, a show table, and orchid growing supplies. Experienced members are always willing to share tips, tricks, and advice on orchid care and cultivation.
