GRFF (Grand River Film Festival) is returning May 7-12, 2024!

Featuring…

5 feature films over the weekend:

  • Friday, May 10, 7pm @ Princess Twin Cinema: Richelieu, a Quebec drama about a woman stuck in a conflict between an industrial farming company and the migrant workers fired to work there.
  • Saturday, May 11, 4pm @ University of Waterloo School of Architecture: Hey, Viktor, a mockumentary about a former child star trying to make a sequel to his star making role, with floundering results.
  • Saturday, May 11, 6:45pm @ University of Waterloo School of Architecture: Starring Jerry As Himself, a docufiction about a retired Floridian who finds himself blackmailed into becoming a spy for the Chinese government.
  • Sunday, May 12, 1:30pm @ Princess Twin Cinema: 20,000 Species of Bees, a Spanish drama about multiple generations of women examining their lives as their 8-year-old begins questioning their identity. (Great for Mother’s Day!)
  • Sunday, May 12, 1:30pm @ Princess Twin Cinema: Boy in the Woods, based on the life story of Maxwell Smart, who survived his childhood in Nazi Europe by hiding in the woods during WWII. Writer/director Rebecca Snow in-person Q&A after the screening.

  • Wednesday, May 8, 6:30pm @ Kitchener Public Library Central Branch Theater: local shorts! Q&A with featured filmmakers after the screening.

Movie Day in Cambridge:

  • Saturday, May 11, 11am @ The Gaslight District (Grand Avenue South, Cambridge): shorts and features all day long! Bring folding chairs or a blanket to sit on in the courtyard, or take a seat on one of the Gaslight District’s patios and enjoy the shorts with your lunch. No tickets needed, no reserved spaces in the courtyard; first-come, first-served.
