The Freedom Marching Project is bringing the community together for The Cookout Experience—a full day of food, family fun, music, culture, and community!
The event is divided into three unique experiences, allowing visitors to enjoy ONE part of the day, OR spend the ENTIRE day with us. Admission to the festival is FREE!
Momma’s Table: Recipes & Roots – A Taste of The Cookout
Momma’s Table is an intimate culinary experience where food and storytelling come together.
Guests will watch local chefs prepare signature dishes inspired by their upbringing while sharing the stories, traditions, and cultures behind each recipe.
Featured Chefs include:
- Chef Vanessa Simone
- Chef D
- Award-winning pastry chef Rochelle Williams (The Dessert Artist)
Affordable tasting passes begin at just $5, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy chef-crafted samples while supplies last.
Unlike a traditional cooking demonstration, every chef shares their personal story, making each presentation a unique cultural experience.
Momma’s Cookie Club | Hosted within Momma’s Table
One of the highlights for families is Momma’s Cookie Club with award-winning pastry chef Rochelle Williams of The Dessert Artist.
Children will participate in a live cookie decorating demonstration featuring Rochelle’s Black Excellence Collection while learning decorating techniques they can recreate at home.
Each registered participant receives:
- 3 cookies
- 3 icing bags
- Take-home cookie box
Participation is FREE, however space is limited to 50 children and advance registration through Eventbrite is required.
Momma’s Family Village
Families can enjoy a variety of FREE activities throughout the day including:
- FREE Cotton Candy
- Face Painting
- Interactive Community Art and Creative Art Activities with Mansi and Alana Decker
- The Family Village is designed to provide fun, creative experiences for children while parents explore the experience.
The Cookout Season Wrap Up Party
As the sun begins to set, The Cookout Experience transitions into an evening celebration featuring live music and dancing.

Guests can expect an energetic mix of R&B, Hip Hop, Country, Rock Afrobeats, Dance, and party classics that bring the entire community together on the dance floor.
