Message from Biggest Loser contestant Chris...

Monday, February 04, 2008

Well we started into our 3rd week. For many years I spent driving long haul truck and each meal would either consist of fast food or very large steaks. All though it was all good and everything, it wasn’t good for my body. We each have our reason to why we let ourselves get the way we did but we all share the same goal, to be healthier. Week one was a very hard as we focused on our cardio workouts. Every muscle (I think that’s what they were) in our bodies flowed with pain. We all stuck with our routines. We are all doing our weight training with help from the trainers now.

For me this has been a very emotional trip. From having my picture posted on 91.5 website and also at Popeye’s Gym. I have suffered from low self esteem and because of that I would find excuses to quit. You start workouts, diets and there is always a reason to stop. We just never seem to make the time anymore.  I have summed up this whole process I am going through and call it RDR.

REALITY

When all of us realized we needed the help and signed up for this Biggest Loser Contest. Accepting what and where we are in our lives and making the first step for a change.

DOUBTFUL

This is where I seem to be stuck right now. With 2 weeks gone and not much on the outside to show for it yet. You start to doubt yourself and in turn it affects your performance and sometimes even your mood. Every day right now is hard for me to find the focus, it’s like I am just falling in the vast empty space with no concept of what to do.

REFOCUS

Once you get to this point, you have it made. If you get yourself past these hard times and refocus your energy on your goals you can then achieve what you set out for. This is where I have never been able to get to. I hope soon I can find my way to this group. With the help of all the trainers, classes and the other 5 contestants, I know I can get to this group for the first time in my life.

So in closing I just would like to add that when I started this contest, that’s exactly what I treated it as, a contest. Now it’s something much bigger than just a contest.  I have made 5 great friends in which we can share our goal with and support each other to achieve our end result. I have met fantastic staff at Popeye’s that are just so excited to assist us in every way possible.  I would just like to thank every single person who have directly or indirectly assisted with this program and hope that this will be the first annual contest.
